Happy National Ice Cream Day!

Warning: This post is chock full of so much ice creamy goodness, it may give you brain-freeze, an irresistible craving for Cold Stone Creamery, or both. Mmmm…

Happy National Ice Cream Day! It’s the ONE day when you can be a kid again; go ahead and ask for extra sprinkles, a double scoop or an extra spoon to share. Bonus: it’s a known fact that calories don’t count on National Ice Cream Day, so indulge!

To celebrate, Cold Stone Creamery has unveiled ten Provincial Signature Creations, representing each Canadian province. The delicious Creations combine the most popular mix-ins in each respective province with Cold Stone Creamery’s premium ice cream, made with real Canadian cream.

Are you ready for the lineup?

(I’ll forgive you if you dash out halfway through reading this post. Really, there’s ice cream waiting! I get it.) (more…)

Tim Hortons, #EqualCanada and Boys #CBias

In my last #CBias post, I attempted to hunt down Equal Sweetener at Tundra Restaurant in Toronto. As the mission was partly unsuccessful (I say “partly” because I still managed to sneak in some much needed girl time), I decided that another coffee date was in order – this time at the mecca of coffee dates, Tim Hortons.

However, instead of chillin’ with another girlfriend, this time I toted along three cute boys – my husband and little ones, of course. We had just had a lovely day at the farm – jumping on hay stacks, bobbing along on a tractor ride, even taking in a puppet show – but were nevertheless chilled and decided a nice, hot cup of coffee was the way to go. Therefore we stopped by a Tim Hortons in Milton, en route to our home.

TIM HORTONS, MILTON

We’d never been to this location before, and it was evident that it was either brand-spanking new or simply the cleanest Tim Hortons we had ever been to. The boys, previously protesting about the 30-minute drive back home, were thrilled to be free from their car seats and presented with cookies, no less. (more…)

Stop the Spread of H1N1! Get a Rim Roller!

I saw this deal posted on Smart Canucks and couldn’t resist sharing.

Get ready for Roll Up The Rim season with… a Rim Roller!

This product makes it easy to check for prize statements hidden under the rims of paper coffee cups in various contests. Essentially a curved clip with two integral (covered) blades, it slices the cup rim twice (1-1/8″ apart) when pushed down, and an internal lip unrolls the paper edge when it’s pulled up. Push, pull and you’re done. 2″ high, 1-1/2″ wide, with an attached split-ring.

Yours for only $2.50 with FREE shipping within Canada/US until September 27th, 2010.

How can it stop the spread of H1N1? Everyone knows that you don’t actually use your thumbs to roll up the rim; you use your teeth. (Why don’t they show folks gnawing away on the cups in the commercial? False advertising, if you ask me.) Anyhoo, this will allow you to hand over your cup without gobs of saliva running down the side. Yucky.

If you’re so inclined, you can even include it as a… Stocking Stuffer!

SDM: Spend $50 or $60, Get a $10 Tim’s Card

Thanks to Kathryn for passing along this dealio!

This weekend, March 13th and 14th – spend $50 or $60 at Shoppers Drug Mart, and you can get a free $10 Quickpay Tim Card. How much you’ll need to spend depends on which province you live in, so use this drop-down menu to check your spending requirement.

Here’s the fine print:

This promotion excludes prescription purchases, Shoppers Optimum Bonus Points, products that contain codeine, tobacco products (where applicable), lottery tickets, stamps, transit tickets and passes, event tickets, electronic gift cards, prepaid phone cards, Life Experiences packages and Shoppers Home Health Care locations.

Now if only SDM would reduce their prices and increase their level of customer service – perhaps I’d take advantage of these deals from time to time!

*FREE Hash Brown with the purchase of any breakfast sandwich. Breakfast sandwiches include: Hot Breakfast Sandwich, Bagel BELT or a Sausage and Biscuit Sandwich. Limit one Hash Brown per customer with coupon per visit.

A Timmy’s Hash Brown, of course, is “real shredded potato that is lightly seasoned and oven-toasted to a golden brown crispness.” In other words, YUM.

Tim Hortons: Go Green and Get 10¢ off

Tim Hortons is helping to clean up the environment – one cup at a time!

You can now feel a little better about your morning double-double. As part of the company’s ongoing waste reduction strategy, they’re encouraging customers to bring their own travel mug (rather than using the standard paper cup). Customers that go green will save 10¢ off the price of all hot beverages.

I know it doesn’t seem like a lot, but the savings are twofold:

1) If you’re a regular coffee drinker and happen to frequent Timmy’s, every cent adds up. One coffee per day at 10¢ less would save you $36.50 annually, two per day; $73.00. (That’s almost a pair of Aldo shoes for you!)

2) With more than 2,800 stores across Canada serving more than a million customers daily, this is a significant opportunity for Tim Hortons and their regular customers to make a positive impact on the environment.

Here’s what Tim Hortons has to say:

Go Green. Grab a handle.

By using our china and travel mugs instead of paper cups, you’re making a difference in the environment and in your wallet. When you bring your travel mug into our stores, you’ll get a 10¢ discount on all refills. We’re proud to support the One Million Acts of Green Initiative because we know that every small act goes a long way.

Pledge your act of Green at onemillionactsofgreen.com.

It’s 8:17am. Just about time for my first cup of java!

I’ve been shunning Timmy’s over the last few years in favour of Starbucks $4+ Frappuccinos… but this summer WILL be different. I’ve vowed to set up a Starbucks piggy bank – where I’ll pocket $5 each time I’m tempted to have a Frappuccino, and let ya’ll know at the end of summer what my reward is!
