Shoppers Drug Mart v.i.b.

If you’ve got a new baby or one on the way, chances are that you’ll (happily) accept all the help you can get. Whether you receive frozen casseroles, a pass from diaper duty or even a voucher for a relaxing prenatal/postpartum massage, accept all these gifts happily – you totally deserve them!

Shoppers Drug Mart wants to reward you – and your new baby – with the v.i.b. (Very Important Baby) program. When you become a v.i.b. member, you’ll receive Shoppers Optimum Bonus Points (which always come in handy!), exclusive offers on trusted brands and helpful advice on health and wellness for you and your baby (or baby to be!).

The perks of this program are huge! If you’re currently pregnant, be sure to sign up toute suite: you’ll receive a wonderful New Baby Gift Pack when your baby is born, which includes:

Aveeno Baby Fragrance Free Daily Lotion (29 mL)
Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash (59 mL)
Johnson’s Head to Toe Body Wash (29 mL)
Huggies Natural Care Baby Wipes
Huggies Pure & Natural Newborn Diapers (Package of 3)
v.i.b Bib
… and more!

Then, the program grows with your child - each v.i.b. member stays connected with content relevant to your child’s life stage, exclusive Optimum offers and hot deals on baby products through their e-newsletters. You’ll also receive a cute little card on your baby’s first birthday :)

I LOVE this program! During Ryder’s first few months of life, I can’t tell you how many times I had one-on-ones with my Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacist. Teething. Drug reactions. Fever. Gassiness. They are baby experts! And with many Shoppers Drug Marts open til midnight or 24 hours, a pharmacist is always there to help.

You can also WIN with the v.i.b program – sign up to be a v.i.b member between November 3rd and December 1st and you could win 1 of 50, $50 Shoppers Drug Mart gift cards*! PLUS as a new member you’ll receive 2500 points the next time you purchase any Pampers diaper products!

Here’s the fine print:
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Visit www.shoppersdrugmart.ca/babycontest for full contest details and information on how to enter without a purchase. Approximate retail value of prize is $50. Chances of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Correct answer to skill-testing question required to be declared a winner. Must be a Canadian resident and age of majority or older in province or territory of residence. Valid Shoppers Optimum Card® required to participate. Contest ends December 1st, 2010.

What are you waiting for mommies? Join now!

I am participating in the Shoppers Drug Mart v.i.b program by Mom Central on behalf of Shoppers Drug Mart. I received a gift card and a new baby gift pack as a thank you for my participation. The opinions on this blog are my own.

SDM: Select Annabelle Products Just $3

This week at Shoppers Drug Mart, select Annabelle products (Custom Quad Eye-shadow, Eyeliner and Lip Liner) are just $3. Pretty sweet!

Even sweeter? If your SDM accepts printable coupons – you can score another $2 off any Annabelle product with this cool little number:

(Click, print and present coupon above.) Come on, it’s worth a try – Annabelle makeup for just $1! The coupon expires March 31st, 2010. Let me know if you’re successful!

SDM: Spend $50 or $60, Get a $10 Tim’s Card

Thanks to Kathryn for passing along this dealio!

This weekend, March 13th and 14th – spend $50 or $60 at Shoppers Drug Mart, and you can get a free $10 Quickpay Tim Card. How much you’ll need to spend depends on which province you live in, so use this drop-down menu to check your spending requirement.

Here’s the fine print:

This promotion excludes prescription purchases, Shoppers Optimum Bonus Points, products that contain codeine, tobacco products (where applicable), lottery tickets, stamps, transit tickets and passes, event tickets, electronic gift cards, prepaid phone cards, Life Experiences packages and Shoppers Home Health Care locations.

Now if only SDM would reduce their prices and increase their level of customer service – perhaps I’d take advantage of these deals from time to time!

SDM: 20x The Points Event March 10th

If you missed Shoppers Drug Mart’s 20x The Points Event last week, fear not! There’s a “secret” event taking place tomorrow – to qualify, simply spend at least $50, show your Optimum card and present this coupon. Et voila! You’ll receive an insane amount of points that you can redeem for SDM gift cards and other loot.

Here’s the fine print:

SDM: Spend $75, Get $20 Esso Card

The Saturday thru Monday, January 16th-18th, spend $75 at Shoppers Drug Mart, and you’ll get a $20 Esso Gift Card FREE! (Well, it’s not technically free, you’re spending $55 more than you should have to!) Still, I think it’s a fab promotion, especially for those who need to stock up on drugstore-type items.

Here’s the fine print: The promotion excludes “prescriptions, products with codeine, tobacco products (where applicable), stamps, lottery tickets, event tickets, transit tickets and passes, electronic gift cards, Life Experiences packages and prepaid phone cards.”

Life Brand Face/Hair Masks Just $0.25

Thanks to a tip on Smart Canucks, I kept my peepers open as I breezed into Shoppers Drug Mart last night – and can confirm that there’s a pretty sweet deal going on right now on single-sized Life Brand Face/Hair masks – only $0.25 each! These are the masks you regularly see in small packets by the face care counter. Word on the street is that they’re being cleared out to make way for the BALEA brand of products. Regularly $1.69 – $1.99, they had a ton of varieties available:

Mandarin/Grapefruit Defrizzing Hair Mask
Orange Oil Vitamin E Warming Face Mask
Grapefruit Oil Vitamin E Warming Face Mask
Anit Aging Collagen w/ Green Tea Face Mask
Relaxing Foot Soak w/ Grapefruit Oil
Refreshing Leg Gel w/ Cherry Extract
Detoxifying Lotus Flower/Ginsing Face Mask
Anti Aging Pore Refining Mask w/ Siberian Ginsing
Anti Aging Micro Dermabrasion Duo w/ Alpha Hydroxy

I can think of several great uses for these masks… a quick way to freshen up your skin, a nice way to pamper yourself while travelling, and my favourite – grab a bunch of them, wrap them up in a gift box or basket, and donate them to a women’s shelter. Just don’t get hooked on them, because they’ll be off the shelves before you can say “Life Brand!”

The photo is courtesy of JustBlushing.net, who posted a review of the masks on her site. Read the full review here.

SDM: Printable Coupons

I think we’ve established that Shoppers Drug Mart can be jerks when it comes to printable coupons – each store has the right to decide if they want to accept them or not, and even then, will sometimes limit quantities.

And don’t even get me started about using coupons with sale items! I’ve heard of managers rejecting the use of a coupon because the product is on sale – I mean, really? Since when is the consumer penalized because the retailer decided to take a couple of bucks off a product? IMO, using coupons with sale items is the only time to use ‘em!

The last time I posted a printable coupon (Stayfree), and mentioned that SDM had the product on sale, here are some of the unfortunate comments:

Tried to use my discount coupons at my local Shopper’s Drug Mart yesterday (in Parkdale). Cashier refused. Said her manager says, “You are already getting the discount with the sale, the coupon cannot be applied on top of the discount.”

Bollocks!

SDM (Lawrence + O’Connor area) accepted the coupon on the first day of sale. Went back to get some more on the last day – and I got rejecteddddddd… I even showed the receipt with the coupon that was accepted. Their excuse: The manager has banned them to accept any print outs from a computer.

So frustrating.

So I’m going to try to make it right – here are some PRINTABLE coupons from Shoppers Drug Mart in conjunction with Glow.ca. You can find them right on Glow’s freakin’ website – with SDM’s logo on them – so if they have a problem accepting them, I’d tell them to stop pairing up with an INTERNET company for promotions.

The coupons include (with expiry):

$1 off CoverGirl Wetslick Lipgloss (April 30, 2010)
750 bonus pts. WUB Aveeno Skin Brightening Scrub (Nov 30, 2009)
$1 off CoverGirl Perfect Point Eyeliner (April 30, 2010)
500 bonus pts. WUB Glysomed Hand Cream (Nov 30, 2009)
3500 bonus pts. WUB Smashbox Foundation (Nov 30, 2009)
$2 off CoverGirl TRUblend Mineral Powder (April 30, 2010)
$2 off CoverGirl Lash Exact Mascara (April 30, 2010)
$1 off Head and Shoulders Citrus Breeze Shampoo (April 30, 2010)
$10 off ROC Retin-Ol+ Intensive Anti-wrinkle Serum (Dec 31, 2009)
$2 off Pantene Pro-V Expressions Daily Color Sham/Cond (April 30, 2010)
$2 off Pantene Pro-V Curls Sham/Cond (April 30, 2010)
3500 bonus pts. WUB PureFusion Super-Charged AgeDefense Serum (Nov 30, 2009)
$1 off Herbal Essences Body Envy Sham/Cond (April 30, 2010)
3000 bonus pts. WUB Calvin Klein Euphoria (Nov 30, 2009)

Each coupon prints over 2 pages (front and back), but I’m thinking you could probably just print out the side with the description and barcode. Then again, maybe you should print out both pages – don’t want to give SDM a reason to reject them! LOL!

For the Ladies…

Warning: this post contains literature which may be uncomfortable for men who shamefully don’t know how to handle the simple reality of being a woman. Proceed with caution.

(My husband, who was looking over my shoulder, just left the room. Pansy.)

Be sure to visit Shoppers Drug Mart this Sunday, September 13th or Monday, September 14th, as they’ll have Stayfree feminine pads on sale for just $1.99! When you combine it with this printable coupon for $2.00 off, you’ll get some Aunt Flo protection for FREE!

The coupon expires on March 31, 2010 (!) and can be found on Stayfree’s Canadian website. I can’t even remember how many times I’ve printed it out, but I can tell you that I’ve been saving tons of money on feminine pads! Almost makes me feel better about my monthly visitor…. um, no. Periods suck.

Shoppers Drug Mart and Future Shop Promos

I love these little promos!

This weekend, August 29th and 30th, when you spend $75 at Shoppers Drug Mart (excluding prescriptions), you’ll receive a $20 Gift Card to use on your next purchase at Future Shop.

Hang on to that gift card if you’re in the market for a new microwave. In the Greater Toronto Area over the Labour Day Long Weekend (September 5th to 7th, 2009), Future Shop is testing a new recycling program; simply bring in your old microwave, and you’ll receive up to $50 towards a new model. (This offer is only available at 23 locations; check your local store to see if they’re participating).

Don’t forget shop around, know what’s on sale, and then ask Future Shop to price match before you whip out your voucher and gift card, ensuring the best savings. Sounds like a neat little deal to me!
