Be a Party Princess… For Less

Ho Ho Ho! It’s officially November 1st; Halloween is behind us… and it’s cool to start talking about Christmas, right?

(Well, yeah. After all, what else is there to look forward to? The cold? The snow? I don’t think so!)

And as we’re just on the cusp of holiday party season, I wanted to introduce you to a neat little collection that I am really very excited about. Trust me, you didn’t see this one coming.

So, where will you be shopping for holiday dresses this month? I’m hearing BCBG Max Azria, Banana Republic, Express, Laura, RW & Co and more. But will you be shopping at Reitmans?

(Reitmans for holiday dresses? No!)

YES. Reitmans, Canada’s largest women’s apparel retailer, is pleased to announce their newest designer collaboration. The company has invited MARTIN LIM, the much talked about Montreal-based design duo, to create a capsule collection of dresses for Holiday 2012. The collection, under the label MARTIN LIM for Reitmans, will be available online TODAY and at select Reitmans stores in Ontario and Quebec tomorrow, November 2nd.

So why am I crushing on this limited edition collection? Think modern, sophisticated and effortless. The MARTIN LIM hallmarks including colour blocking, the unexpected combining of fabrics and even influences from the world of sports.

I must say I’m particularly loving the fourth dress from the left, pictured above.

“The Limi colour block dress is made of smooth polyester. Its body-conscious silhouette has flattering cap sleeves, an elegant boat neck and a bonded satin front. Wear high heels with this above-the-knee hemline for a trendy, dressed-up look.”

A bonus? It’s just $85.00! Incredibly affordable and beyond party-ready. In fact, MOST of the dresses in the collection are priced at $85.00, with a select few being at slightly higher price points ($95.00, $110.00 and $120.00, respectively). The capsule collection for Reitmans consists of ten beautiful dresses for holiday, including two petites and two plus size.

So who is MARTIN LIM?

“MARTIN LIM is a design partnership of husband and wife Danielle Martin and Pao Lim. The pair created their first collection under their own label in the spring of 2011 and quickly attracted the attention of the fashion press and industry insiders for their unique designs that effortlessly combine the influences of their favourite fashion decades, fine artists and even sports.”

So, now that the holiday party season is upon us, tell me, do you have a lot of soirées that you’ll be attending this year? Will you be shopping for holiday dresses?

These are lovely. I like the fourth dress the best as well, although the purple one looks great too.

Their clothes are made to fit real women’s bodies, making room for curves. Most of my work wardrobe is from Reitmans, and I’ve bought a lot of demin and casual clothes as well. They always have great sales and clearance racks too. With your tiny frame, you could probably buy a new wardrobe for not a lot of $.

This is great! It’s wonderful to see collaborations with Canadians; it doesn’t seem to happen often enough. Limi is perfect for a day to evening outfit. As with nicolthepickle, I like the purple one, too! :)

My style savvy place to shop is Spoof! on Queen West. Crazy cool fashions often for $20 or less! And they’re not your average off the rack selection.
