Meet Canada’s Social BLAZR – Me!
It’s Official: I’m a Social BLAZR.
(I’m also very humble and sweet, I promise! But this is such an awesome accomplishment – I hope you’ll indulge me while I show off for just a moment.)
A couple of months ago, Motorola Canada announced via Facebook that they were looking for Canada’s Social BLAZR – someone who embraced social media and used it to empower their life. Those interested were asked to describe – in 100 words or less – what makes them a Pretty Big Deal (PBD) and why they deserved to win the title (two winners would be chosen – male and female).
Always one to throw my hat in the ring, I offered the following entry:
“I reinvented myself from a frumpy housewife to a serious yummy mummy by amplifying my life via Social Media. Yes, I tweet to feed my kids – and blog to feed my soul. After spending years writing about my family, friends and face, I now help to elevate women’s presence in social media. In other words – I’m looking to cultivate mini Social BLAZRs, too.”
All eligible submissions were reviewed by a panel of judges based on originality (30%), creativity (30%), adherence of essay to social media trailblazing theme (30%) and division ranking based on the number of votes received during the voting period (10%).
(Yes, there was a voting component to the contest – and to those who took the time to place a check beside my name, I thank you.)
Drum roll please… I am officially Motorola Canada’s Social BLAZR!
I *think* I may have actually fallen off my chair when I heard the news. So very exciting – and cool! Hey kids, I’m a mom of two… and I’m COOL! #seriouslywickednews
Although bragging rights are more than enough for me, I’ll also be treated to $2,500, a Motorola RAZR smartphone, and a suite of accessories including a Lapdock 100, Lapdock 500 Pro, HD Station, vehicle navigation dock, smart controller, wireless keyboard with cover and a P893 universal portable power pack. One word: AWESOMESAUCE.
A very special thank you to Motorola Canada for bestowing this unique honour on me, and to the peeps in my social circle who support me endlessly – you guys officially rock. Also, a very well deserved shout out to Zach Bussey who is my co-Social BLAZR; he was also crowned a winner and will enjoy the same title and goodies.

and my personal fave: “Hey Santa, you’re awesomesauce!”
