Be a Holiday Hero: Toshiba 55″ Passive 3D Television

There are many ways mom can be a hero:

1. “I found your favourite red car under the bed. Here you go, sweetie.”
2. “Do you need help with your shoelaces? I can show you a really neat trick.”
3. “Sure, we can have popcorn and cake for dinner. Though you owe me a super healthy breakfast in the morning.”

Of course, mom can also put a Toshiba 55″ Passive 3D Television with LED Backlighting under the tree this Christmas. Holiday Hero? Oh yeah. And then some.

I must admit I struggled with this review. Not because I don’t love the TV (I absolutely do), or believe that the TV is the very best quality at an affordable price (it truly is). It’s just that short of inviting you into my living room, I simply had no idea how to fully communicate how much this television rocks.

So I decided to just go ahead and say it: The Toshiba 55″ Passive 3D Television freakin’ rocks.

Where oh where to begin! I actually spent the better part of 30 minutes taking pictures from every angle – with flash, without – sitting, standing, up close, far away. And no matter how hard I tried, I simply couldn’t capture the inherent quality of the TV’s picture to satisfy my needs; it truly is one of those things you have to see live to appreciate. (Can anyone really take an effective picture of a TV screen? Need pointers, please!)

Alas, while scrolling through the pictures, I realized that a few of them were so vivid, there was absolutely no way one would know they were photographed off a television screen (apart from the CNN icon at the bottom, of course). Apologies for the mishmash of celebrities (it was a Larry King thing), but just look at these pics:

(*Technically* Mr. Katy Perry isn’t a celebrity in my book, but whatevs.)

Hopefully I can play around with my camera settings and have more shots to share with you – but if the wrinkle between Tyra’s brows, the frizz on Russel’s hair and the pinstripes on Shaq’s suit aren’t enough to convince you of the enviable picture quality, consider these features:

Expert Mode: Allows for more precise picture adjustments for a totally optimized home theater experience.
1080p Full HD: 1080p Full HD, the highest level of HD picture quality available today.
AutoView: By combining an ambient room light sensor and incoming video content monitoring, AutoView automatically sets most of the TV picture parameters for you.
Local Dimming: With control of different “zones”, it allows for precise dimming control for deeper images.
ClearScan: Get awesome, crisp images for quick-action sports and other fast-motion video.
Native Mode: Displays the 3% to 5% of the image that is generally lost during the normal over-scanning that is done in most TVs.

The television is currently on sale for $1,699.99 – which is a fantastic price for a 1080p HD television alone. But we haven’t even touched on the fun stuff yet! Join me again for another installment of “Be a Holiday Hero with Toshiba” – next time, I’ll go through the very awesome 3D features!

It was quite frankly the only way I could really showcase the quality of the TV’s picture. And yes, great price!

WANT is right! I was wondering how one does a TV review on a blog without gettting boring and repetitive. That picture of Tyra sold me – thanks for thinking outside the box.
