GTA: Carrie Duncan Photography

A couple of months ago, I received an e-mail from an up and coming photographer, Carrie Duncan of Carrie Duncan Photography, asking if I’d like to help build her portfolio. Since I have a weak spot for mamas who turn what they love into what they do – and because, frankly, her work is pretty awesome – I wholeheartedly agreed.

“How many self-proclaimed photo-journalists can claim over a decade in the trenches of community journalism? I’m a storyteller, and now I do it best with my camera. People have been telling me for years, that I should be making my living at this, but I’m stubborn and I have to figure things out on my own.

I love people (especially little people) and interacting with families. My most successful shoots are those where I capture a family’s essence. My hope is that as your family grows, you’ll take me a long with you. As old-fashioned as it sounds, I would love to be your ‘family photographer’.”

Take a look at Carrie’s Galleries.

We took the family down to Sunnyside Park in Etobicoke, a place where my husband and I picnicked frequently when it was just the two of us. Carrie has a sweet disposition and the boys took to her immediately; I was really pumped to start our photo shoot.

We started off with a few pictures of hubby and I, and if you’ve seen my recent avatar on Twitter, you’ll know that Carrie shot my “professional” pose as well. It was a hot, incredibly humid day (treasure troll hair galore) but for the most part we were able to capture some wonderful photographs.

I am so thrilled we had the opportunity to experience Carrie’s talent first-hand. She was punctual, patient and quite willing to wait out Ryder’s theatrics to get the perfect shot (which we thank you for!). I’m just in the process of enlarging the photo of our two little guys shown above; I love how she captured their innocence – and mischievousness - with one click of her camera.

Carrie specializes in child and family portraits, including maternity and newborn sessions. Do check out her “Bellies and Skin2Skin” section – the photographs are absolutely divine! She services the area of Toronto, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Brampton and Oakville. If you live in the GTA, be sure to “Like” Carrie Duncan Photography on Facebook – you’ll have a chance to preview her latest work and connect with her personally.

We had the pleasure of receiving a complimentary photo shoot and a selection of hi-resolution images in exchange for a review of her services. The opinions on this blog are my own.
