Lena Loves… LeapFrog Interactive High Chair

Thanks to awesome sponsors, our home is chock-full of cool, innovative products. In fact, I’m building quite the reputation as the “go-to girl” for info on the coolest items for baby and toddler… and I’m particularly pleased to add the LeapFrog Interactive High Chair to my list of HOT Products for 2011!

I fondly remember what meal prep was like when Ryder was a bit younger. I’d strap him into his high chair, scatter a few crackers for him to munch on (didn’t want to spoil his appetite) and then proceed to flutter around the kitchen while he glared at me.

“Up.”
“Just a sec, honey. Mommy is at the stove.”
“UP. Up. UP. Up. UP UP UP!!!”

Sigh. If I only had the LeapFrog Interactive High Chair back then (thank goodness it arrived just in time for little Reid to use!). For every parent who’s ever wished their kid would just sit in his high chair and wait, this one’s for you. A bonus: your child will be entertained and have a learning experience along the way!

The LeapFrog Interactive High Chair includes three trays: an interactive tray, a dishwasher safe try, and a removable base tray. Let’s break it down.

The interactive tray features a touch sensitive screen that allows babies to thump along to the alphabet or the beat of a song. There are three learning and play settings which allow for hours of entertainment, and – should you require a little distraction for your baby during meal times – is water resistant and wipes clean effortlessly. The tray is easily removed and can even be used on it’s own as a toy.

If you’d rather separate your child’s play and dining experience, simply lift the interactive tray and switch to the dishwasher safe tray – making clean up a breeze. After the meal, I like that you can continue keeping your child entertained while you tidy up.

And as your child grows, you can simply remove the base tray and bring the high chair up to the table so junior can dine with the family. In fact, the LeapFrog Interactive High Chair is suitable for children up to 10 years old (!), making it truly a product that grows with your child.

Here’s a quick video of Ryder and Reid banging away:

And when your little one outgrows the entertainment (or you no longer subscribe to diversion tactics), you can be certain that you’ve got a quality Alpha high chair on hand – the frame is made from durable German beech wood and features and adjustable seat and foot rest area, in addition to a removable front bar. Also included are a comfy, machine washable seat pad and 5-point harness. The chair has an appealing charm that will easily enhance your home decor – and I LOVE it’s solid construction finished with white, non-toxic paint. Perhaps the only con of the design is it’s inability to fold away; but, to be honest, it’s never been a problem in this house. After all, if you’re feeding up to six times per day, why put the chair aside?

The LeapFrog Interactive High Chair is loved by both my children! (Not surprising – it’s PTPA Award Winning!) And I really appreciate the fact that the chair is built to last – and will likely be one of the few products that survive the transition from infancy to toddler years. Ar $299.99 it is certainly an investment, however, when you combine it’s educational and entertainment factor, plus the workmanship and ability to grow with your child, I do believe it’s a worthy addition to your household.

The high chair is available at select boutique retailers across North America, including Dear-Born Baby, Baby Proofing Plus, TJ’s The Kiddies Store and more. For a complete listing of retailers in your area, please click here.

My favorite part of this highchair is not only the removeable interacive and dishwasher safe trays, but that you can remove them and have the highchair pulled up to the table to have your little one a part of mealtime. So important! Didn't even know LeapFrog made a highchair! Love it!
