MD Moms Baby Silk: Miracle Cream?
It’s one of those times I wish I had before and after pictures. Ah well, I guess I’ll have to paint ya’ll a picture…
This past weekend, we joined friends and took Ryder to Springridge farm in Milton – hoping to take part in some of the Easter celebrations and enjoy the beautiful weather (24°C and sunny in TO!). Well, the day was certainly a hit – Ryder had a great time, and mommy got to relax on a picnic bench and catch up on girly talk.
Later that evening, while changing him out of his clothes for bath time, I noticed a small pink rash covering most of his upper body. “Did you put sunscreen on his chest?” I asked Mike. He nodded. I didn’t think much of it, telling myself it was probably a slight allergic reaction to the SPF stuff (or irritation from the fact that he was rolling around in hay), and it would fade away soon enough. We bathed the little guy and put him to bed.
The next morning, I noticed that the mysterious rash had spread to his arms, legs, and cheeks. Uh oh! I quickly Googled pictures of infant rashes, but my personal diagnosis could only deduce that he was suffering from what looked like a form of heat rash. Was that it? I mean, it was rather warm over the weekend. Perhaps he was a little too sweaty.
“He doesn’t have diaper rash!” Mike scoffed.
“I know, but I use this all the time on my cracked skin in winter, and since it is fairly protective and moisturizing, maybe it can calm down some of the redness. It’s worth a try…” I countered.
So I took a small amount and slathered it all over his body (with the exception of his cheeks). The cream absorbed completely and left a wonderful scent. Even Ryder smiled as I massaged it in, saying “Mmmm.”
The next morning: the rash had completely disappeared. I mean, it was gone. Everywhere – his chest, arms and legs – were baby soft and smooth. Only his cheeks still held on to tiny pink bumps, but of course, that was the only area that I had not applied the cream. I couldn’t find a trace of the puckered, red patches of skin I had worried about only 12 hours before. I quickly dabbed a bit of the cream on his cheeks, and by lunchtime, they too had resumed their normal, cherubic appearance.
Now while I don’t endorse self-treating a rash on your own child, I can’t deny that MD Moms Baby Silk Soothing Bottom Relief is my miracle cream. Diaper rash, skin reactions, cracked and chaffed skin – is there anything this cream won’t take on? It’s been a staple in my diaper caddy for over a year now, and I don’t think any product will be bumping it off it’s pedestal :)

You'll love it ladies!
Hi Charlene –So sorry to hear about Ryder! Charlotte absolutely CANNOT use 99% of sunscreens — she gets red and blotchy and it's horrible. We found out in Vegas last year. She was just a mass of welts. The only thing she can handle is the mineral-based sunscreen. It's more expensive, but well worth it. She was miserable!! Crying and red and her little face was just so swollen.Glad to hear he's feeling better!Janice
Ah, I knew it must have been sunscreen reaction! Sorry to hear Charlotte had to suffer through it too :(What brand are you using now? Would love to hear your recommendations!
We just got back from Mexico and my Twins got the same thing. I figured it was a heat rash, but maybe it was from all the sunscreens….but still, I was and still am frustrated because I tried everything I had and they didn't work. I need some of that stuff!!Thanks for this post, it just helped me a ton!!
You're welcome Tammi! And big hugs to the twins… I hope their rashes clear up very soon :)
