Lena Loves… Fire and Ice Creations CLOSED
By now, you’ll probably have guessed that I am a jewelry junkie! And, since creating my Lena Loves… segments, I’m beginning to discover that some of the most beautiful, whimsical and trendy pieces come from artisans in BC!
Included in this elite circle of talented west-coast artists is Astrid Elston, creator and designer of Fire and Ice Creations. Astrid was born and raised in South Africa, and draws on the rich colours and scenery of this vibrant country for inspiration to create Fire and Ice Jewellery and Home Décor pieces.
It all started when she stumbled upon an industrial landfill where piles of beautiful stained glass had been dumped. Having a deep concern for the environment, and seeing the tragedy of all this beautiful material discarded, she decided to create functional art with the recycled material. Astrid started out creating Eco necklaces, using chunks of glass to fashion one of a kind pendants. Then she branched out into creating original pieces for the home with the Eco for Home collection. These unique designs became great conversation pieces, and best of all, they are eco-conscious.

Of the Earth Collection – From delicately simple, to bold and chunky, there is a look for everyone in this collection. Genuine gem stone pieces that you can wear everyday or to dress up that special outfit. These high quality pieces are finished with 100% Sterling Silver.
Eco for Me Collection – Using recycled art glass to create striking bold pendants, creating a bold chunky statement with elegant flair. Instead of these gorgeous chunks of glass being tossed into a landfill, they are now the centre of attention on wearable art – now that’s art that celebrates the environment!
Just for Me Collection – A fantastic array of unique everyday earrings, bracelets and necklaces to dress up any outfit. Whether it’s running around town or a fancy night out, you will add some sparkle with a Just for Me piece.
Eco For Home Collection – A new take on mosaics, these pieces are great conversation starters and are sure to get you inspired about going green! Accent your home with pieces that are created with recycled stained glass.
My personal favourite is the “Just for Me” collection. The Glass Flower necklaces are absolutely breathtaking, and the inspiring leaf, drop and curl pendants are both painfully unique and colourful. They’re the kind of show-stopping pieces you’d pair up with a simple black dress in order to keep the focus on the explosion of vibrancy.
